Geduld is part of the complex of lines on the East Rand, east of Johannesburg and is on a freight only section from Apex to Welgedag that still features two locations with semaphores, here and Modrea. There is a daily wayside train that shunts the sidings and places or collects loads from the exchange siding with Sappi's paper mill, which also serves Impala Platinum Refineries. Geduld has one of the largest surviving frames in South Africa, with 48 levers, controlled from the signal box depicted here, one of the few surviving "stand-alone" boxes remaining in South Africa now.
