Moddepoort is on the Bloemfontein to Bethlehem line, a scenic section in the Eastern Free State that was one of steam's latter day haunts. It was the junction for the short branch to Ladybrand and had a frame with 48 levers, which I believe is still in existence although probably sees little use. This is a 1978 picture by Richard Niven of the signal box there. It is common in South Africa for the signal box to be part of the main station building, but unusual for it to be the upper level as here.
