Nylstroom is a town on the line from Pretoria to the Limpopo river- the town is also known as Modimolle now. The line was electrified in the 1980s but had semaphore signalling until around the turn of the century controlled by a lever frame of 40 levers. It was the junction for Vaalwater and you can see the impressive gantry of signals at the junction, with the non-electrified branch leaving the electrified main line.
