Strand is the end of the suburban single track line that passes through some current semaphore signalling, including the previous station and junction, Van Der Stel. Up until the early 1990s, there was a single home semaphore signal, controlled by a single lever on the platform. The only signalling infrastructure that remains in Strand is the Van Schoor single line token instrument, which is worked by train crews. However, the single lever for the signal still exists on the property of actress Trix Pienaar in Pringle Bay, a rail-less resort on the Indian Ocean around 40 kms from Strand. Dylan Knott took these two pictures of this rather special single lever in its new home.
